Jake Owen says heâs âbackâ and âin a better frame of mindâ after posting a message earlier this week that had fans worried about his well-being and wondering if heâs doing OK.
For reference, on Tuesday, Dec. 9, the 44-year-old singer/songwriter posted a video that showed him in an emotional state as he reflected on both his personal and professional struggles. In the since-removed clip, Owen told fans he had been âcrying my eyes outâ as he questioned whether to continue in the music industry.
âItâs brought me a lot of happiness,â Owen, who was wearing a suit, acknowledged at the time, âbut itâs also made my familylife miserableâŠ.I went downtown to give a check to my ex, and she can hand me back my ring⊠once itâs all over, itâs over.â
The Country Star Is Grateful for Those Who Have Checked in With Him
Now, in a new unscripted TikTok video, shared on Thursday, Dec. 11, Owen took a moment to clear up any confusion over his previously posted and then deleted clip, saying he regrets scaring âa lot of peopleâ â some of whom he considers his friends. He also noted that he appreciates those who have checked in on him, but adds, âI didnât mean for it to be that, I didn't ... .But, Iâm grateful for those people out there that have reached out to tell me that youâd be there for me. I love you for that. Iâm grateful for that.â
He Plans To Continue Pursuing His Musical Passions
The âBarefoot Blue Jean Nightâ singer went on to explain that he has no intention of leaving country music, despite having previously said otherwise.
âThis has nothing to do with country musicâŠAll these people that Iâm talking about who are friends, I made because of the music business,â he added in the video that has drawn support from stars like Luke Bryan, Lady Aâs Charles Kelley, Dan + Shay, Chase Rice, and many more. â...I think I was just in an emotional place where I feel like my dreams that I followed, Iâve fulfilled, but yet, itâs also deteriorated my family life. And a lot of that is due to my own decisions and choices that I have to be accountable for, and I just wanted you guys to know that.â
He Has Remained Sober Since September 2021
Owen, who has celebrated his sobriety after remaining alcohol-free for four years, shut down any rumors that he is on âdrugsâ and âintoxicated,â but acknowledges that he isnât perfect, saying, âI for sure donât have it figured out. And Iâm working on thatâŠ.Iâm just a guy thatâs at a place in his life where heâs trying to just figure out how to be a better manâŠand Iâm on my way.â
âLove you. Iâm sorry if I scared youâŠ,â he added, and also shared where he was in the original clip from Tuesday. âThat was at like 10 oâclock in the morning after I left my business managerâs office. I was completely sober. I have been sober for four years. âŠI felt so good every day, up until yesterday, waking up and realizing I had that feeling again of letting people down and letting them see a side of me that was broken. So, I realized I still have healing to do. I still have things I need to fix. Iâm not fixed yet⊠The other day, when I popped on here and was just overly emotional, I kind of let myself break down in front of the world.â
âMy world consists of my little girls. Iâm a father, Iâm a son, Iâm a brother, and Iâm a friend to so many peopleâŠ.â Owen â who is a father to two girls, Olive Pearl and Paris Hartley â said, before insisting. "I donât want to worry anybody. I am OK. Iâm fine.â
