Written and produced with Walter Afanasieff, "All I Want for Christmas is You" was released as the lead single from her fourth studio album and first holiday project, Merry Christmas, on Oct. 29, 1994, by Columbia Records. The song was a success when it was first released, reaching number six on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary chart in the United States and number two in the United Kingdom and Japan. Even though it was released over 30 years ago, the song still continues to dominate the charts every holiday season.
Carey just wrapped her Las Vegas residency "Mariah Carey's Christmastime in Las Vegas," which started on Nov. 28 and ended this past Saturday. Earlier in the fall, the singer put out her 16th studio album, Here for It All.
Billboard releases the Top 10 songs from their Hot 100 on Monday afternoons, with the full chart dropping on Tuesdays. But the chart is not on their website until Saturday because they wait for the print magazine to be published.
