Warning: This article contains minor spoilers from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 2, "Hard Salt Beef."
Ser Arlan of Pennytree got his big moment in week 2 of Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
A flashback sequence kicking off the second episode shows the late hedge knight, played by Danny Webb, stumbling butt naked out of a brothel to take a whiz. His entire, ahem, member is on display, and it is...quite the appendage.
"Was that a prosthetic? I forget," showrunner and series co-creator Ira Parker remarks in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "I thought he just showed up on set that way, but maybe it was prosthetic."
It's a similar vibe to how A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms began episode 1 with a Dunk (Peter Claffey) defecation scene. It reminds folks we're not hanging with the upper echelon of Westeros. We're down in the muck with the Smallfolk.

"I felt bad for Ser Arlan at some point," Parker comments of this episode 2 opener. "He was the only person who's ever looked out for Dunk and really stuck with Dunk. And he died on a muddy road in the middle of nowhere, was buried without ceremony, and now Dunk is going around trying to find somebody who just even remembers him — people that he served for, people that he bled for, these knights and these lords. They can't even remember his name. I felt the need to give him his one special thing, to channel a little Boogie Nights, I suppose."
Webb's presence as Ser Arlan in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms exists purely in flashbacks, scattered throughout the six-episode first season. This particular scene, however, gives the audience a clear indication as to how...large the man loomed in Dunk's mind.

"I can't say it zips past you at 100 miles per hour because, you know, it's out there, but it's not the story that we're telling. It is just a flourish of the story that we're telling. It changes nothing else," Parker continues. "In order to survive to be an Old Man Hedge Knight, you had to be made of solid f---ing iron. Those were tough days for anyone, let alone a fighting warrior who lives under trees in the 14th century. So, you know, he's a small guy and he's slim. I figured he's got something that helps him get through those really intense battles. He's got a certain energy about him, if you will."
New episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premiere every Sunday night on HBO and HBO Max.
