The lead vocalist of iconic '90s metal band Mudvayne took to Instagram on Friday to announce that the band will be taking a break in 2026.

The announcement follows the band's 2025 North American tour, which spanned more than 30 cities. While the rest of the group is taking time off, lead singer Chad Gray is doing the exact opposite. In the post announcing the band's break, the frontman shared his plans for a solo concert.

The one-off solo show will take place April 24 in Las Vegas and will showcase 30 years of Gray's musical career. The setlist will feature songs from both of his bands, Mudvayne and Hellyeah.

"Mudvayne is taking a break for 2026 but I just can’t do that. Music, creating, playing are the wells that I draw my happiness from so I need to keep going," Gray wrote. "I tell ya what…this is gonna be FUUUUN. Mudvayne and Hellyeah songs from the same stage, the same night, at the same time. I’m sure there will be some story telling too."

Mudvayne was formed in 1996 by Gray, guitarist Greg Tribbett and drummer Matthew McDonough. Bassist Ryan Martinie joined in 1998 following the departure of original bassist Shawn Barclay, completing the band's current lineup.

Between 1996 and 2010, Mudvayne released five studio albums. After an 11-year hiatus, the band reunited in 2021, and a sixth album was reported to be in the works as of mid-2025.

In the comments of the frontman's post, fans express both disappointment regarding the band's break and excitement for Gray's upcoming solo show.

"@chadnesss a break? I was hoping for a new @mudvayne album to come out. 😢"

"Hellyeah!!!!! Love it, Keep on killin it!! Hopefully see a possible show at The Machine Shop in the future with this. Get a couple more nights in climbing that scaffolding!😂🤘🏴"

"This will be absolutely incredible! Coming to VEGAS in May for the first time!"

"Taking a break... already. Man that's a shame. I thought a full album was going to happen."
