Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Daughter Carys to Make Her Professional New York Theater Debut

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' daughter Carys is making a professional theater debut

She will star in a production of Anton Chekhov's play The Seagull at Brooklyn venue St. Lydia's next month

Carys previously told PEOPLE she plans to pursue a performing arts career after graduating from college

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' daughter Carys is following in her parents' footsteps.

The 23-year-old will make her professional stage debut in a New York City production of Anton Chekhov's play The Seagull.

The “multi-space, site-specific theatrical experience,” from theater company Solid Flesh, will play a strictly limited engagement from June 20–27 at St. Lydia's, a venue in Brooklyn.

Michael, 81, and Zeta-Jones, 56, who have been married since 2000, share Carys and son Dylan, 25. Douglas is also dad to son Cameron, 47, whom he shares with his ex-wife Diandra Luker.

Carys has previously shared her hopes of following her Oscar-winning parents into the entertainment business. Last October at the 2025 PAC NYC Icons of Culture Gala, she opened up to PEOPLE about her plans after graduating from Brown University with a degree in film and international relations.

“I grew up doing theater, and I didn't study acting in school, but that's why I'm happy to be in such an informative arts space, so hopefully more of that,” she said at the time.

Zeta-Jones celebrated her daughter's graduation in May 2025 with a celebratory Instagram post of her and Michael kissing Carys' cheeks. The Wednesday actress captioned the sweet post, “We are both such proud parents right now!! It's only just begun!!”

Carys' brother Dylan is also active in the biz, making his acting and producing debut in the short film I Will Come to You opposite Peter Facinelli.

Solid Flesh's The Seagull runs June 20–27 at St. Lydia's. Chekhov's classic Russian drama was written in 1895 and first appeared on Broadway in 1916; its most recent revival in 2008 starred Carey Mulligan, Peter Sarsgaard and Kristin Scott Thomas.
