- *Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen *hit Netflix on Thursday, March 26.
- Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco star as Rachel and Nicky, an engaged couple counting down the days to their wedding.
- Rachel is carrying a generations-old curse, one that turns their big day into a blood-soaked nightmare.
Things go off the rails fast on Netflix's *Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen*.
At the center of the horror miniseries are Rachel Harkin (Camila Morrone) and Nicky Cunningham (Adam DiMarco), a couple just days away from getting married. They head to his family's remote cabin for the celebration, but Rachel arrives with more than just pre-wedding jitters. As it turns out, she's carrying a generations-old curse that's about to make things *a lot *worse.
Right from the start, the show leans into Rachel's growing sense of dread. As showrunner Haley Z. Boston told **, "We wanted you as the audience to feel the paranoia and the fear that Rachel is feeling. Even when she's not in the scene, we were always thinking about constructing the show in terms of her discomfort."
By the time the big day rolls around, everything starts to unravel, turning what should've been the happiest day of Rachel and Nicky's lives into something far more sinister. Let's break it down.
What exactly is Rachel’s family’s curse?

Before we get to the ending, it's worth taking a step back. In episode 4, a man known as the Witness (Zlatko Burić) meets with Rachel and explains the deadly family curse she's inherited.
Long ago, one of the Witness' ancestors had a wedding ruined when the groom unexpectedly died before the ceremony. Devastated, the bride struck a deal with Death: He could bring her love back, but only if every future generation of her family married their soulmate by sundown on their wedding day. Miss the deadline, and they would *literally *bleed to death.

That curse stuck, and every child born from that marriage inherited it. Over the years, it passed down to the Witness, and later to his fiancée, Marianne, after he left her at the altar. Marianne eventually married Thomas Harkin, who, as it turns out, is one of Rachel's distant relatives.
The Witness then warns Rachel that if she doesn't marry her soulmate by sundown on her wedding day, she's as good as dead. Her mother, Alexandra (Victoria Pedretti), already paid the price, suffering a gruesome death because she didn't believe Rachel's father was her soulmate.
He also reveals his own grim fate: He's forced to show up at every wedding in Marianne's bloodline, and Rachel's big day is next on the list.
There's a small loophole, though. If someone in the cursed family never gets engaged or has no intention of marrying, they won't trigger the curse. They still carry it and could pass it down to their children, but the sundown deadline wouldn't apply to them.
Rachel also has the option of drinking a potion that could make sure Nicky is her soulmate — but she never takes it.

Yes, Rachel and Nicky technically get married — but don't expect a fairytale ending.
After Rachel and Nicky reach the altar, Nicky hesitates. His mother's (Jennifer Jason Leigh) affair has shaken him, and when Rachel warns that canceling the wedding could unleash fatal consequences on his family, he dismisses her because he still doesn't believe in the curse.
As the sun sets, it's clear Rachel's wedding isn't happening. And worse? She no longer believes Nicky is her soulmate. His refusal to take the curse seriously shatters her trust, leaving her questioning their entire relationship.

Meanwhile, the delay sets off a deadly chain reaction as the curse spreads through Nicky's family. Any married family member who doubts their marriage and doesn't believe their spouse is their soulmate starts bleeding to death. Nicky's mom is among the first to fall.
In a last-ditch effort to stop the bloodshed, Nicky finally goes through with the ceremony. He marries Rachel hoping to save the rest of his family, but by then, it's too late. Soon after, his sister Portia (Gus Birney) becomes another victim of the curse.

Even with the curse wreaking havoc on his family, Nicky walks away from the wedding unharmed. His survival comes down to one thing: He never wavers in his belief that Rachel is his true soulmate.
In an interview with RadioTimes, Boston explained, "It makes sense to me that Nicky would still believe she's his soulmate. He's such a romantic, and ultimately, I think he's doing what he thinks is the right thing."

Rachel isn't as lucky as her husband. Because she ends up marrying someone she no longer believes is her soulmate, she dies from her family's curse.
After the ceremony, she stumbles outside, collapses in the snow, and bleeds to death. But in a shocking twist, Rachel is resurrected as the Witness, meaning she's doomed to attend every wedding in Nicky's family for generations to come.

After coming back to life, Rachel goes straight to her and Nicky's room to grab her lighter. She finds her husband laying on the bed and clutching a teddy bear like a kid, clearly traumatized after watching his family bleed to death in front of him.
"I don't think he even knows if what he sees is real," DiMarco told PEOPLE of his character. Morrone added that, in that final moment, Nicky comes off as "such a loser."
On her way out of the cabin, Rachel bumps into Nicky's nephew, Jude (Sawyer Fraser) and warns him to be "really, really, really, really careful who you choose to marry." She adds, "But don't worry, I'll be there to witness."
Rachel gives him a quick hug and makes her way through the reception. There, she finds a note scrawled in blood left by the past Witness: "Your turn!"
She gathers his things, slips out of her blood-stained wedding dress, and heads out the door. Her ride is a rusty pickup truck, with "Just Married" scrawled across the back and cans clattering behind the bumper. She finds her lighter in the glove compartment and starts the engine as "We Will Not Be Lovers" by the Waterboys starts blaring. She tries to skip the song, but it keeps looping, so she lets it play.
In the end, Rachel tosses her wedding ring out the window and drives off with a smile on her face.
