Jamie-Lynn Sigler is joining season 22 of Grey's Anatomy.
The beloved Sopranos star will have a guest-starring role as Dr. Laura Kaplan—a doctor suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS), the same disease Sigler is battling in real life.
According to Deadline, "the role was created for Sigler, who has lived with MS for more than two decades and marks her return to television after a three-year break."

The official Shondaland Instagram page announced the exciting news, saying, "We're excited to welcome Jamie-Lynn Sigler to the Grey's Anatomy family, and can't wait to see the impact Dr. Laura Kaplan will have in the hospital."
The Entourage star was first diagnosed with MS when she was just 20 years old, but did not publicly disclose her battle for more than a decade.
"MS gave me my superpower, which is vulnerability," Sigler told People in 2023. "I can still accomplish the things that I want to do, whether it be at work or at home."
Sigler is following in former Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane's footsteps as he recently appeared on NBC's Brilliant Minds as a patient with ALS, amid his own battle with the disease.
Sigler will appear in the January 15 episode, titled "Heavy on Me."
