Thousands of fans attended a funeral for Ko Tin Zaw Htwe on Jan. 24 after the Myanmar social media star was found beaten to death last week.
The somber ceremony — held at a cemetery in Mae Sot, Thailand — drew family, friends and followers of the late internet star, several of whom were dressed in black and holding large photographs of him, captured in photos shared by Daily News, a Thai newspaper. Htwe’s sister, Ye Ye Ae, broke down crying during the procession, per Khaosod, another Thai newspaper.
Htwe maintained a following of nearly 1 million on TikTok, where he shared lifestyle content, dancing videos, and posts with his partner.
On Jan. 20, around 4 p.m., the Mae Sot Police Station received a report of a dead body in a grassy area under a large tree in a forest. When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered that Htwe’s body had been brutalized and abandoned, per Thairath, a Thai newspaper.

Police Colonel Rang Dawadung, Superintendent of Mae Sot Police Station, told the outlet last week that a single suspect had been arrested in connection with the influencer’s death, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
Htwe seemingly last his social media on Jan. 19, uploading a video to TikTok lip-syncing to a song and showing off several new shirts. In comments on the post, fans posted tributes to the late creator.
“It hurts my heart how quickly a human life is taken away 🥺😰😥” one shared.
“I'm sorry, may God bless you,” wrote another.
