Anna Jay’s future with AEW is no longer in question. While the former TayJay member remains sidelined with an injury, AEW President Tony Khan has confirmed that she has signed a contract extension and will remain with the company.

The announcement comes after weeks of speculation surrounding Jay’s status. Moreover, Khan also revealed the real reason fans haven’t seen her on television.

Tony Khan addresses Anna Jay’s injury and AEW contract extension

Speaking during the AEW Redemption media call, Khan clarified Jay’s current situation, explaining that she is recovering from an injury that has kept her out of action.

“Anna is in very good standing with us. Anna is out injured right now. I was hoping to book her in recent weeks and she has an injury.”

Khan added that Jay underwent an MRI last week as AEW continues to monitor her condition. However, he stressed there are no concerns regarding her long-term future with the promotion.

“Last week, she was going for an MRI. She is in good standing and has a lot of time left; she’s extended her contract with AEW. She is going to be staying in AEW.”

The AEW president also pushed back against reports suggesting Jay’s contract was nearing its expiration. He asserted that much of the recent reporting about her status had been inaccurate.

“Anna’s actually extended, and is gonna be staying in AEW, which is far to the contrary of what a lot of the wrestling media has reported.”

Jay has not competed since the June 6 edition of AEW Collision, where she teamed with Tay Melo in a losing effort against Divine Dominion for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship.

Khan also distinguished Jay’s situation from Tay Melo’s. While confirming Jay has committed her future to AEW, he revealed Tay recently requested her release from the company and that the request will be granted.

AEW has not announced a timetable for Jay’s return to the ring. Until she’s medically cleared, her in-ring comeback remains on hold. One thing is now certain, though — her contract isn’t tapping out anytime soon.
