Virgin River star Stewart McLean has been found dead at the age of 45, one week after his mysterious disappearance.

McLean, who recently appeared on the hit Netflix drama series Virgin River, has been missing since May 15, when he was last seen at his Lions Bay home in British Columbia, Canada.

One week after the actor was reported missing, the Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police revealed that the missing persons case was upgraded to a homicide investigation. Now, Canada's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has confirmed that they have uncovered his remains, which they believe is an "isolated incident."

Esther Tupper said in a press statement. “We are pursuing all available leads as we work to find answers for the family, friends, and loved ones of Mr. McLean.”

The Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police previously said they were "very concerned for Stewart's health and well-being" and were seeking assistance from the public, per a press release published on their website.

On Thursday, May 21, authorities announced that McLean's case was being treated as a homicide investigation. "Squamish RCMP initiated an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe Mr. McLean was victim of homicide," they said in a statement.

McLean was an actor and producer, and appeared in a number of popular television series and movies over the years. Most recently, McLean played the minor background role of Barfly in the drama series Virgin River.
