Hanukkah is coming to an end and Christmas is right around the corner, which means more time for settling down with your family for a steaming hot cup of cocoa and a good movie or show (or both).

This weekend, Dec. 20-21, what could become the biggest movie of the year and an adaptation of one of Freida McFadden's mysteries are coming to theaters. Over on Netflix, one of the streamer's biggest shows is making a leap from Paris to Rome and to your screen with a highly anticipated fifth season.

It's a big week for TV fans elsewhere as well, as Prime Video is releasing the second season of its vastly popular video game-inspired series.

And there's more! Here's a list of the eight best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.

Avatar: Fire and Ash

We've explored Pandora on land and underwater, but now a new element is making its way to the biggest cinematic experience in history: fire.

Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his wife, Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), face a new danger — only this time it isn't from greedy humans, but from their very own. After their home was destroyed, the Ash People strayed from the typical spiritual Na'vi ideology in favor of a darker one, prioritizing fire and technological advancement.

Avatar: Fire and Ash premieres in theaters on Dec. 19.

The Housemaid

On the surface, housemaid Millie (Sydney Sweeney) is a former convicted felon desperate for any kind of work — even if it means putting up with her unhinged boss Nina (Amanda Seyfried).

However, beneath the surface, more nefarious deeds are at play. And the two women may be in for more than they bargained for in this adaptation of Freida McFadden's novel of the same name.

The Housemaid premieres in theaters on Dec. 19.

Emily in Paris season 5

Our close personal friend Emily (Lily Collins) and her unique outfits have been in Paris for four years now, so naturally, it's time for a super realistic and not aspirational at all change: moving to Rome!

Only the move is proving more challenging than Emily anticipated as she finds her footing in a new city after establishing herself in the City of Lights. Will she last, or will her friends back home in Paris — specifically Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) (wink wink) — inspire her to return?

Fallout season 2

Lucy (Ella Purnell) and The Ghoul's (Walton Goggins) story picks up right where it left off in season 1 of the Prime Video show, based on the video game of the same name.

The Vault 33 dweller and the bounty hunter are an unlikely duo as they team up while traversing New Vegas in search of justice and family. While Lucy's mission is a personal one as she seeks her father, The Ghoul is faced with a former foe: New Vegas leader Robert House (Justin Theroux).

Watch the first episode of Fallout season 2 on Prime Video, with new episodes releasing weekly on Wednesdays.

Murder in Monaco

We're sprinkling in a little bit of crime for you with the mysterious 1999 murder of billionaire banker Edmond Safra in Monaco.

When Safra is found dead in his penthouse, three main suspects arise: a suspicious nurse described as "Jekyll and Hyde," an angry Russian mafia allegedly bent on revenge after Safra exposed them to the FBI and a "dangerous" wife who had $4.8 billion to inherit. So who did it?

Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately?

We've got fantasy, mystery, crime and now some nostalgia with a documentary looking back at Counting Crows and its lead singer, Adam Duritz.

Centering on the rise of the band and their peak fame in the 1990s, the documentary explores the emotional aftermath of their breakout album and the pitfalls of fame that followed.

Watch Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately? on HBO Max.

Kumail Nanjiani: Night Thoughts

In the last decade, Kumail Nanjiani has done a lot: produced and written an Academy Award-nominated movie, starred in multiple hit shows from Only Murders in the Building to Fallout and gained a superhero-esque physique. One thing he hasn't done? A comedy special.

For the first time in over a decade, the comedian returns to the stage for a stand-up that touches on everything from tackling anxiety to procuring cat medication.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman season 6

One of America's stalwart talk show hosts, David Letterman, hung up his hat 10 years ago in the world of late-night. In the time since, he grew out a full beard and popped out five seasons of his talk show series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, in which he delves into longer-form sit-down interviews with some of America's finest musicians, actors, athletes and political figures.

Now, he's back with a sixth season, complete with three new episodes that include interviews with Jason Bateman, MrBeast and Michael B. Jordan.
